Question: How long will my dog or cat be pregnant?
Answer: Approximately 63 days.

Question: When should I have my dog or cat spayed?
Answer: Usually around six months of age.

Question: Should my dog or cat go through a heat period or have a litter before spaying?
Answer: No. Spaying before puberty greatly reduces the risk of mammary cancer and allowing your pet to reproduce only adds to the number of puppies and kittens who will need homes.

Question: When should heartworm prevention be started?
Answer: Puppies should be started on heartworm prevention by two months of age and should be continued year-round for the rest of the animal's life. Blood testing is required at six months of age and yearly thereafter.

Question: How often will my dog go into heat?
Answer: Approximately every six months.

Question: How often will my cat go into heat?
Answer: Very frequently during the spring and summer months.

Question: Why do dogs eat grass?
Answer: This may indicate indigestion, but in most cases they seem to eat grass for the enjoyment.

Question: When should my puppy start it's vaccinations?
Answer: Normally, puppies are vaccinated for Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, and Parvo Virus at 8, 12, and 16 weeks old. We also recommend a check for intestinal parasites and starting heartworm prevention.
